Graphic Art / Photo Manipulation
Kybernetik: Techtonik
(Advanced Photoshop Project)
Date: September 2007
Distribution: Print and Electronic Media
Project Description: This photo-manipulation project was carried out entirely in Photoshop CS2. It makes extensive use of high-resolution stock photography which has been layered atop the background image to add the impression of organic skin-graft textures. The photograph of the model making up the background of the composite is 2657x4000 pixels. The finished graphic design has a resolution of 100dpi and prints at approx 2.25 x 3.5 feet.

A Watchful Corner
(Advanced Photoshop Project)
Date: August 2007
Distribution: Print and Electronic Media
Project Description: I didn’t have a clear idea of the final image when I started this graphic design project, though I did know that I was seeking something representative of the cyberpunk genre and postmodern decay or an urban jungle. As I worked with an assortment of organic and non-organic textures to use as overlays in Adobe Photoshop, the image hidden within their blend began to reveal itself, and I had something more concrete to aim for. The final graphic design became, in my eyes, the image of a homeless street girl peering around the corner of a building, her face a mixture of weariness and wariness.

Kybernetik: Interstitial
(Advanced Photoshop Project)
Date: May 2007
Distribution: Print and Electronic Media
Project Description: This is the first in a series of cyberpunk art and graphic designs on which I’ve recently been working in my spare time. I’ve decided to call the series ‘Kybernetik,’ and am attempting to diverge slightly from what I would consider more typical examples of cyberpunk artwork, and its abundance of dark shadows and neon shades of green. I’m a fan of the cyberpunk genre, but I find certain aspects of it to be played out.
This graphic design project is intended to show the shedding of skin, revealing subtle cybernetics and wetwired circuitry beneath… a more subtle and organic blending of man (alright, woman) and machine. This series utilizes an original set of techniques, some of which came about through trial and error as I worked with various custom brushes and textures in Photoshop.

Kybernetik: Redemption
(Advanced Photoshop Project)
Date: January 2007
Distribution: Print and Electronic Media
Project Description: This Photoshop project is a more basic example of complex layer and pattern blending. The final result has a somewhat watercolored and dreamlike quality. The original, unedited image is shown for comparison.
Kybernetik: Reguard
(Advanced Photoshop Project)
Date: September 2006
Distribution: Print and Electronic Media
Project Description: The 'Reguard' project was designed alongside the 'Introspect' design, and shares similar textures and patterns which have been brushed onto skin, giving the appearance of complex cybernetic and circuit-board details embedded within the flesh.
